Carol Markino

Carol Markino. American born and raised, Carol has lived in Rome half of her life. She loves her adopted city and thinks it is one of the most beautiful places to live. She has a Master of Arts in International Education, a Bachelor of Science in Pedagogy, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Sociology. Working as a freelancer, she has taught English as a foreign language in various environments, including the military (NATO, Guardia di Finanza), universities (LUISS, La Sapienza, La Cattolica, Wuhan University in China), large corporations/businesses (AGIP, ENEL, BNL) and public entities (Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura, Scuola Superiore della Pubblica Amministrazione). Carol is trained and certified as a Cambridge speaking examiner and works with the Ministero di Giustizia as an examiner for a national competition of judges. In addition to teaching, she does administrative work for a licensed tourist guide. An active member of the American International Club of Rome (AICR), she served as president of the organization for two years and on the Board of Directors for nine years with terms as treasurer, and community service coordinator. On a personal level, she has a long history of volunteerism and enjoys giving back to her community; has walked portions of the Cammino di Santiago di Compostela ; and appreciates Vipassana meditation.
